Learning at we
Best in-class faculty:
The faculty members at Welingkar are considered to be best-in-class in terms of their expertise, industry experience and academic credentials. While the core faculty members have had a long-standing association with the institute, the academic environment has been further enriched by the presence of visiting faculty members from India as well as abroad, given their years of experience in the corporate world and otherwise.
The PGDM courses at Welingkar are designed by advisory councils of respective courses comprising of industry stalwarts and expert faculty, keeping the industry's current needs and future trends in mind.
'Design thinking' is a unique concept introduced in each of our PGDM programs that sets our students on the path of creativity and innovation and as we believe in nurturing thought leaders and practitioners, the academic content as well as pedagogy of each of the PDGM is revised every year by its respective academic advisory council.
To give our students the holistic view, courses such as the 'Integrative Manager' have been included wherein through team teaching, multidisciplinary concepts are taught to nurture an integrative thinking mindset.
'Well begun is half done', and that is exactly what the Foundation Fortnight aims to accomplish. A 15 day preparatory course, the program is especially designed to introduce students to Welingkar's culture and values. During this time students meet the faculty and staff, their seniors, alumni and fellow batch mates. They also receive an opportunity to learn more about the curriculum and become engaged in a host of activities designed to introduce them to all the aspects of a business management program. It focuses on team building, experiential learning, and personal development.
Global Citizen Leader program (GCL):
Close to 200 WeSchool students were provided with leadership and innovation knowledge along with an opportunity to learn and practice skills in a real-life context at the Global Citizen Leader program (GCL). Students of PGDM Business Design, PGDM Retail Management, PGDM Healthcare and PGDM Rural Management (Emerging Economies) worked towards developing sustainable solutions to issues related to Rural, Healthcare, Innovation, Social issues, Human Resources, etc. Welingkar partnered with Leadership Beyond Boundaries (LBB), a global initiative by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCLŽ) which is exclusively focused on democratizing leadership development and based in North Carolina. GCL program is now an annual feature and integrated into the curriculum as a credit course.
At Welingkar, we focus towards nurturing our students as Global citizen managers and the AAA approach is a step to advance in that direction. AAA is an acronym for Acquisition, Application and Assimilation of knowledge. The approach emphasizes students to learn through application of acquired knowledge and as the next step, delve deeper to make meaning of it. It also helps students to understand the roles and responsibilities towards business, relationships and society as well as comprehend one's beliefs and values which influence/guide one's actions and decisions.
The Integrative Manager is a unique course offered to Welingkar's MBA students. A purely case study based course covering Business Strategy, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Corporate Ethics, the course also involves discussion of General management cases, a large representation from Harvard. The course simulates a wide variety of issues which a manager is likely to face in real life business. WeSchool has also worked with IDEO, one of the most innovative organizations in the world, in developing appreciation and understanding of newer ways of learning and looking with a different set of lens.
