12 Reasons Why Hiring Companies Consider Fresh Graduates

Recruiting skilled professionals to run the business efficiently is a constant task for organizations. Companies search for, select and appoint skilled professionals to manage various business processes and ensure profitability. Though experience counts in more complex management roles, fresh management graduates are a clear and winning choice for entry-level jobs. Here’s what makes freshers good candidates for recruitment in organizations:

1. Best talent

Management students undergo holistic and comprehensive training which enable them to successfully take on future managerial roles. Companies realize that recruiting freshers is a good method of finding and accumulating the best talent.

2. Affordable

The cost to company for a fresher’s salary turns out much less than that for experienced hires. Since freshers are just starting out, they are generally willing to work harder for lower remuneration.

3. Mouldable

Training a person is easier than retraining them. There isn’t much to unlearn first. Employees without prior experience are, therefore, easily mouldable compared to employees with experience. Since they are new, freshers lack awareness of the corporate history, feelings of entitlement, and professional bias. They are quick to learn and adapt to the organizational ways and in filling requirements particular to the company.

4. Learning culture

Freshers are quick and continuous learners because of their recent history of learning. They are able to gauge skills needed of them and work towards gaining knowledge as a means to achieve these skills. Google is an example of a company whose hiring philosophy prioritizes learning ability over experience.

5. Specialized skills

Specialized management programmes provide students with domain knowledge and a specific set of necessary skills. Specialization makes students expert in the chosen sector, says Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director of Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Research and Development (WeSchool). And, which company doesn’t want an expert working for them?

6. Agile and enthusiastic

Their eagerness to learn and excitement to gain business experience enables freshers to quickly accept and adapt to organizational, industry and market changes. Their enthusiasm and youth also make them more productive at their tasks.

7. Ambitious nature

In freshers, there is a strong desire to prove themselves and succeed. This hunger to achieve more is what fuels their performance at the workplace.

8. Tech-savvy

New graduates know of and can comfortably use the latest technologies. They also keep themselves updated about social media trends. Their tech-savvy makes freshers a high value hire.

9. Innovative

Innovative thinking and creativity are modern day keystones of business, according to Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WeSchool. Fresh minds tend to look at the business world with wonder and ask change-inducing questions like ‘Why?’ and ‘Why not?’ Having learned the importance of showing initiative during the duration of their management study, freshers are more likely to take calculated risks on the new ideas and solutions that they come up with.

10. Relevant and global perspective

A company that hires freshers often does so to relate better and get insights into the youth market. Moreover, since most of the management curriculum focuses on international issues, students develop the habit of thinking globally which makes them potential change leaders.

11. Long-term asset

Over the long-term, new graduates can prove profitable to a company given it has a good retention capacity and provides ample career development opportunities.  By hiring freshers for entry-level jobs, a company essentially collects and trains candidates to fill crucial, higher-level supervisory and management positions in the future.

12. Team player

Freshers tend to actively network, and show a willingness to collaborate. They have undergone and mastered the experience of teamwork, through a variety of cooperative group activities during their management course.
