A Welingkar student Connects the Dots and How!

“We develop and manufacture vertical axis windmills and wind pumps. Presently we are developing windmills of 800, 1000 and 5000 watts which are customized according to the wind speed available in the region to achieve maximum output. Low wind speed requirement, economical, no effect of wind direction are few of the unique feature of our product. We are also into development of prototypes and products for other companies like Bharat Bijlee, Voltas, Samsung, etc.”Says Bhupesh Sharma, a student of PGDM-Business Design from Welingkar Institute of Management development and research.

Bhupesh is well on his way of entrepreneurship as he has already set up a company named BRESON in 2010 to take on the challenges of Green Energy Generation in urban areas at a very economical rates, rural electrification and Improving irrigation system. Bhupesh, an engineer from University of Mumbai , is studying Business Design at WeSchool, Banglore with his company headquarters in Mumbai. Breson, his company is nominated in the  top companies in TATA FIRST DOT (an all India event for start-ups,conducted by the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN).
“We are competing against other small power production devices like solar power, waste power generation units and small hydro plants. But Breson has a definite edge   we are economical as compared to other products. The space and infrastructure requirements are very less compared to others. Our products are customized as per the region they need to be installed in, so we can achieve maximum in terms of productivity” added Bhupesh with a glint of determination in his eyes. Obviously these kind of innovative and technology based projects in the Alternate/Green  Energy sector need a deeper understanding of the regional energy needs , an impeccable understanding of required technology backed by costly R n D efforts ,the patience to handle customer demands as well as local bureaucratic hurdles,  and all this  combined with hardcore business sense.
“The course in Business Design made me change my lenses; it constantly pushed me to search for business opportunities and at the same time equipped me to handle the challenges by using conceptual and creative thinking ability and doing something innovative adapting a multidisciplinary approach. While Increasing our production capability, and establishing a proper marketing channel still remain our biggest challenges, we have successfully completed two pilot projects, one in Thane and other in Lonavala. We are also in the process of installing approximately 100 windmills in Jaisalmer District of Rajasthan” added a proud Bhupesh.

While commenting on this venture of his student, Prof Dr.Uday Salunkhe opined” Design thinking is characterized by a human-centered approach, nurture a questioning mind, multisensory observation, cross-domain application, prototyping. As a result, programmes at Welingkar enable  students to have a holistic approach towards management by using  creative skills as well as  logical capabilities while carrying out any function of management .At WeSchool,we instill a sense of social responsibility in our students by training them to look beyond personal gains and profits, as it is our endeavor not only  to train  corporate managers but entrepreneurs with  global mindsets and leadership skills ,who  care for people and the planet.  Today while the earth’s traditional sources of energy are depleting at an alarming rate , corporates as well as governments that have a definite Green agenda are looking for these type of projects that will contribute to better living conditions and survival of our planet .I  wish Bhupesh all the very best in his journey of entrepreneurship with a conscience  ”
