Another big leap in the direction of Design Thinking for Business Innovation…

The installation of a high end 3D Printer at INNOWE Lab at the hands of Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director,  WeSchool…

Today’s management education scenario must change by breaking the silos, thereby creating opportunities and communities that nurture a better future for people in all parts of the global economy. Having realized that, WeSchool began its journey on an untrodden path of ‘Design and Innovation’ to Redefine MBA education. WeSchool’s focus on design thinking concurs with their constant effort to guide its students to break out of the conventional framework and to come up with innovations for filling the gaps in socio-economic needs. Understanding the intricacies of the complex global economy has helped WeSchool to transform itself into a B-school with design thinking at its core.  With MIT Media Lab getting ready to  host its fourth and biggest ‘Design Innovation Workshop’ in collaboration with WeSchool from January 27th to February 1st, 2014, WeSchool took  its initiative further by  installing a High end 3D printer at the INNOWE LAB this morning.

A 3D printer is a limited type of an industrial robot  that is capable of carrying out an additive process under computer control  and uses  a process of making a solid object of virtually any shape from a digital design/model. 3D printing is achieved using an additive process, where successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes. 3D printing is also considered distinct from traditional techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by methods such as cutting or drilling. Rapid prototyping  was one of the earliest additive variants, and its mission was to reduce the time and cost of developing prototypes of new parts and devices, which was earlier only done with subtractive tool room methods . Standard applications include design visualization, prototyping/CAD, metal casting, architecture, education, geospatial, healthcare, and entertainment/retail.

With programs in Business Design & Innovation, E-business, Retail, Healthcare, Rural Management,  family managed businesses and several customized programs for various business sectors ,WeSchool is focused on   integrating design thinking and innovation into mainstream management programs   to  create a common language between communities of technologists, designers, management students/professionals, engineers, medical professionals and artists to create an environment of interdisciplinary learning and solve problems of today.
