“GLOBAL MANAGEMENT – THE LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE with particular reference to India and Indian companies”

WELINGKAR INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT & RESEARCH TAKES A LEAD IN ORGANISING A ONE DAY WORKSHOP IN ASSOCIATION WITH NATIONAL HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT  NETWORK (MUMBAI CHAPTER)

The Mumbai Chapter of NHRDN & WeSchool in collaboration with the ECA International, UK have organized a one day workshop which will be addressed by four International Business Leaders with extensive Global Experience.To be held on Saturday 5th November 2011, from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm at the Brainstorm Room, in the Welingkar Institute, the workshop will consist of a team of highly respected global leaders, practitioners, thinkers and consultants. The well known global business leader, Mr. Nihal Kaviratne CBE, will kick off with the keynote address. After which, three international experts in the area of global economy, international mobility and leadership, rewards and benefits, Mr. Ian Ridgwell and Mr. N Sundar and Ms.Preeti Gupta, will be the workshop leaders.

The objective of the workshop will be to provide strategic decision takers and policy makers, as well as human resource professionals, an opportunity to hear world class practitioners and thinkers of proven success and record, discuss and help understand the challenges and opportunities in a vast range of areas that will include:

  • Global business leadership in turbulent times
  • A review of global economic developments
  • How employment is shifting across countries and its impact on India
  • Appreciation of developments and challenges faced in moving, managing and developing talent across countries
  • Global developments in remuneration and the challenges faced by Indian companies in adopting ‘global’ practices in India
  • Development of a coherent set of policies on international mobility and international talent and global cadre of managers
  • Managers ‘made in India’ – how good are they globally, in terms of their professional skills and competencies

The workshop will be more than beneficial to Business Leaders, International Business Directors, HR Directors, Country and Regional HR Heads of Multinationals, Vice Presidents/Heads of Talent Management/Reward Management/Organizational Development, Coaches/Mentors, Senior HR Managers and Consultants.

11.00 am        The Global Scene: with particular reference to North America, Europe, Asia and India – The Global Economic cauldron: Mr. Ian Ridgwell, MD, ECA International. The Employment Scene: Mr. Natarajan Sundar, Visiting Professor, LM Business School, London, and Business Research Institute, Bedfordshire University, UK

12.15 pm       Global Developments in Talent Movement across countries – based on ECA Global Mobility Surveys – Ian Ridgwell

1.00 pm         Lunch

1.45 pm         Discussion within Groups: ‘Key challenges faced in India and by Indian Companies in talent and reward management, in particular, across countries’ and presentation to the Plenary

2.45 pm         Global Trends in Remuneration and Challenges faced by Indian companies – Ms. Preeti Gupta, Group Head, Rewards and Benefits, Aditya Birla Group

3.45 pm         Coffee/Tea

4.00pm         Global Managers made in India – what they uniquely bring in, especially in professional skills and what they often lack, in terms of personal competencies; how do we develop ‘global’ talent and a coherent policy on international mobility by Mr. Natarajan Sundar
