Soon after completing graduation from Sardar Patel College of engineering, Sharmila enrolled for the PG Program in Business design and Innovation at WeSchool, Mumbai. While the story of these two fabulous years was getting in a shape, one more wonderful story was evolving simultaneously. Three young school friends, passionate about food and with a great willpower to start something on their own were ready to take their first few steps towards kick starting their own venture. The current start-up ecosystem and rising opportunities in food tech space held their attention and from that moment, there was no looking back. Breakfastkaro.com is the brainchild of these young women, Sharmila Deodhar, Vaibhavi Joshi and Neha. While Sharmila is a mechanical engineer, Vaibhavi happens to be a computer engineer while Neha is a chartered accountant by profession. Past few months of their life have been the most amazing ones filled with adrenaline rush, setbacks, achievements and disappointments, like a roller coaster ride.
“It all started the day we decided to carry out a pilot at Juhu beach, selling breakfast to the morning walkers. Why breakfast? Well, the scope of innovation and opportunities at this time of the day are far more in numbers and more so because there are limited options available, most of them belonging to old and conventional menu. At Juhu beach, began serving fresh and wholesome items like Oats Idli, Oats Upma, Soya Sliders, Granola Yoghurt and Coolers like Panha, Kokum etc. The result- we ended up building a community of people enjoying the seaside morning walk and then waiting for our breakfast outside the beach. “says Sharmila.
The idea needed to be taken to the next level. So, the team started planning for the next step and soon their website went live. Now bootstrapped by the three co-founders and with a team of helpers, breakfastkaro.com is all set to serve you fresh, hot, tasty and wholesome breakfast. The customers have an option of pre ordering breakfast.
“Tell us the time and your breakfast will be delivered right at your doorstep. Or else, call us any morning; our delivery guarantee is about 45 min for on demand orders. Our menu ranges from Maharashtrian specialties like Amba Daal, Panha to south Indian dishes with a twist like oats idli, from western hits like Granola parfait to varieties of sliders.”
In addition, the site also has Granola Store which displays their signature specialty – classic dry fruit granola- a perfect all-day meal rich in nutrients and taste. Currently serving breakfast from Andheri to SantaCruz, breakfastkaro.com aims to become a well establish venture in the food tech space.
While each one of the co-founders brought their own brand of professional know-how and skills to the table that contributed to laying a strong foundation to the business, “My MBA education worked like a catalyst. The subjects taught in the classroom actually unfolded in reality when I saw their application in my venture. In addition, mentoring sessions through e-cell, under the guidance of Prof. Dr.Kaustbh Dhargalkar and Prof. Manmeet Barve proved helpful in shaping our business strategies. The support provided by our Group Director , Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe encourages the budding entrepreneurs from WeSchool to stay focused in their efforts. The futuristic outlook of WeSchool and continuous encouragement I received from the institute has played an important role in the project. “Acknowledges Sharmila.
As a part of their expansion plan ,Breakfastkaro.com has set up a takeaway counter at the very busy area of Hanuman Road,Vile Parle(East) ,Mumbai,where all the yummy and healthy snacks are available for the food lovers living nearby.While keeping customer as the key area for focus and keeping customer experience at the top priority, the trio of founders at breakfastkaro.com are confident to stabilise in near future and get ready for taking it to the next level.
