Indian Constitution Day observed on campus

26 November 2019 was observed on WeSchool campus as the ‘Indian Constitution day’ and ‘Samvidhan Diwas’. WeSchool faculty, staff and students, virtually joined the nation in attending the live parliament function at its central hall broadcast with both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members in the widely covered event on national television and across media for the first time. The event was addressed by respected President, Ram Nath Kovind; Prime Minister, Narendra Modi; Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu, and Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla.
Our honorable President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his warm greetings to all citizens of India. In his speech, he highlighted how today’s day commemorates not only our Indian Constitution but also recalls and remembers the architect of the Constitution – Dr. BR Ambedkar, as a expression of gratitude.
PM Narendra Modi spoke about the signifance of the Consitution of India as a sacred book. He recalled the Indian consitution as binding for all citizens of India and that we must believe in it, while focussing on our duty as responsible citizens. He also said that today is a memorable occasion as India observes its Constitution Day, however let us not forget the Mumbai terror attacks which took place on this date back in 2008. He paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the attack.
Addressing the joint session of houses, Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri. Om Birla descirbed today’s day as a day of fundamental duty festival. He mentioned how the Constitution respects the diversity of all India’s citizens. It has the duties and as well as rights for each citizen.
Our Vice President of India, Shri. M Venkaiah Naidu also addressed the nation by urging the citizens to follow call of duty. He reinstated the importance of the Constitution. He mentioned that while we speak in diverse languages and have a rich culture, our Ved is one.
On this memorable ocassion, a postal stamp, Rs 250 coin and 2020 calendar were unveiled at the live function.
