‘Mashup’, An innovative Platform That Brings Startups and Students From Diverse Backgrounds Together at Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research

Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool) will host ‘Mashup 2011- the entrepreneurial challenge’ at their Mumbai campus on 19th December 2011. MASHUP 2011 is a platform for innovative startups with an existing product/service and management students with a flair for business planning to meet up and create a winning strategy to succeed in the market. Mashup 2011 provides existing startups and budding entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to polish their skills and go through the different steps of making an executable business plan which would then be pitched in front of people from international innovation foundations, entrepreneurship networks, angel investors and high profile venture capitalists.

Speaking about the relevance of an event like Mashup 2011, Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WeSchool says, “The idea behind Mashup 2011 is to put budding entrepreneurs and startups through the experience required to create executable business plans. There are many entrepreneurs with innovative ideas or products but lack in scientific knowhow of creating a profitable business plan or are not sure how approach the market. This platform will ensure that these startups get the required push in the right direction. It also gives students a chance to showcase their talent in front of the right audience and bear fruition to their dreams of setting up their own businesses. WeSchool believes not only in training world class corporate managers but entrepreneurs as well. That is why this competition is kept open for graduate as well as post graduate students so that they are able to meet up with innovators ,partner with them by polishing their own skills and are set on the paths of realizing their dreams of entrepreneurship “

‘Mashup 2011’ is divided into two rounds, the first one of which will be the qualifier where students and entrepreneurs submit their entries to be eligible for the event. The finalists of Round one will then have to meet and prepare the business expansion plan to present to the panel of judges consisting of investors, industry experts and entrepreneurs, on the 19th of December 2011. The teams will be judged on various parameters and the winning team will be presented with an exclusive cash prize of Rs. 1, 00, 000 and the runner up, a cash prize of Rs.50, 000.
