Think out of the Box! Get innovative! Think New! Sure, but how does one go about this.
WeSchool which has been working in the Design and Innovation space and the Swedish Consulate offered an interesting session on Creativity and Innovations at the institute’s auditorium, where Tobias Degsell, Curator at Nobel Museum addressed the students on this. Mr Tobias shared the story behind the Nobel Prize and several stories of Nobel Laureates and how each of them had made their journey.
While most have taken for granted that Creativity is important, he brought out that Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity is characterized by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. So while many can have interesting ideas and great imagination, it is truly the ones who can turn them into reality that the world seeks.
When talking to several Nobel Laureates on what were the qualities that they believed made them accomplish what they had, persistency came out as a quality that most of them agreed with. While vision, playfulness, and other aspects were also mentioned, remaining persistent on your path was seen as being integral to getting outcome. Persistence may sometimes also bring ridicule once way, if it was not understood by people around, which is where Collaboration and communication come in. Liking and trusting the person you work with had the ability to add greatly to be able to succeed at important projects and tasks.

Deliberate interventions such as the Global Citizen Leader program, Design and Innovation programs are designed for students to interact and meet people from various walks of life outside the school and within, work with persons from different social strata and experiences and persons from different nationalities. We believe the inspiration for creativity and the ability to turn this creativity into something meaningful for businesses and society increases multifold with a diverse ecosystem that channelizes this energy. So as educators if we focus on creating such ecosystems, the youth will make in India and ensure we are a nation to be proud of,” quotes Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe.
The two hour program with 200 students in the auditorium for the interaction was seen energized to try their hand at being a Nobel Laureate someday.
