Prof Indu Mehta, Associate Professor-Marketing and Prof Dr. Pradeep Pendse, Dean –IT &Business Design win accolades at IIM –Ahmedabad.
IIM-A had organized ‘International Case Masters (ICM)’, a case writing contest with the objective of promoting study of changing global management practices. The event invited entries from students and faculty members across the world to gauge the current trends of administration, governance and management. The five categories in the competition were ‘Emerging Economies And New Growth Opportunities’, ‘Changing Marketing Paradigms’, ‘Evolving Financial Landscape’, ‘New Ventures And Open Track’.
Out of the three teams from WeSchool that had submitted cases, two were judged as the Best Cases in their respective categories. Prof Indu Mehta’ s Case study on ‘FINO, a technology enabled model for Financial Inclusion ‘ won the award under the ‘evolving Financial Landscape’ category. Prof Pendse with Prof Minakshi Agrawal and the Design team had submitted a case called ‘Twareit ‘which can be used to teach the Design /Innovation process. This case won the award under the’ New Ventures ‘Category. The third case about the LOOT chain of stores showcasing the challenges faced by a company moving into e-commerce for the first time, authored by Yogesh Kothari (PGDM E-Biz 2010-12) and Jaya Consul (PGDM 2010-12) under the guidance of Prof Pendse made it to the top five in its category.
The winners in each category presented their cases at IIM-A on the 10th July 2011 in the presence of some of the jury members, IIM faculty, students and other case authors. The award was in the form of a certificate and cash award of $1000. Moreover these cases would now form a part of IIM-A’s case bank. IIM-A is also evaluating the possibility of publishing the cases through the European Case Clearing house (ECCH) or a suitable peer reviewed case bank . The abstract of the award winning cases would be published in subsequent issues of ‘Vikalp’ the research journal of the IIM-A.
