Objective of the event
Retail Fiesta was a retail mockshop project conducted by students of PGDM Retail Management. It was part of Retail Operations subject in Trim 3. The project was designed to develop the students with an understanding of various areas of retail operations and the relevance of the key functions, both front end and back end, in a retail environment. The objective was to provide experiential learning to the students with respect to Retail Operations.
Event Description
This was a group project and 8 groups were formed of 7 to 8 students per group. Each of the student groups had to physically set up a mock shop and offer products for sale which were sourced on their own. The fiesta showcased a vibrant retail marketplace brimming with student-run shops which offered a diverse range of products along with food and beverage items. They covered the key retail aspects during this project such as marketing, pricing, logistics, inventory management, sales operation. It was a day long event and students experienced the highs and lows of retail through the day. The key highlights were the student learnings in the areas of sales, customer service, store location, visual merchandising, marketing, pricing, promotion, stock replenishments, payment management, security etc.
