One of the most eccentric parts of our lives is money and it is what forms the core part of banking. The first bank in India was established in 1786. Since then, the banking sector has seen a plethora of changes since its nationalization in 1969. In the past three decades, India’s banking system has earned several outstanding achievements to its credit. The most striking is its extensive reach. Banking is no longer confined to the metropolises or cities in India. The Indian banking system has now reached even to the remote corners of the country. Banking hence, is one of the major contributors to India’s GDP. Banking today has become convenient and instant, with the account holder not having to wait for hours at the bank counter for getting a draft or for withdrawing money from his account.
