Event Description

The rationale To promote an entrepreneurial spirit in the Weschool ecosystem. Why start with Alumni Entrepreneurs Our focus remains on existing students. Existing students have ideas which are very raw and need a lot of refining and testing before going to market. We support them wholeheartedly, however, the gestation period for them is long. On the other hand, there is a fair number of alumni that have become entrepreneurs. These are ventures that already have traction on the ground in terms of inflowing revenues and hence profits. Hence, they are the ones through whom we will be able to show early results. A lot of these entrepreneurs are looking at scaling up and hence need the next round of funding. Giving them a slight push with our support, quite a few of them would be able to raise the next round of funding. If we are able to get even a handful of them funded through Angel investors and Seed VCs, it will be a great boost to the spirit of current students. Some of them will certainly get charged up for venturing out on their own. By supporting alumni entrepreneurs who already have traction, we will be able to strongly promote the concept among current students too in the hope that we will be able to inspire our current students. Once this model is successful, we will be able to apply for various grants from the Govt. of India under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) schemes. The first round of wenture.inv is just the beginning. We have been able to generate a good network of investors and entrepreneurs, which will get consolidated over the coming year. The benefits derived by the participating entrepreneurs have been immense. Hence, we are confident that the initiative will reap dividends in the years to come.
